The Continuing Education Option (CEO) for rank change and certificate renewal was developed by Kentucky state legislators and educators as an alternative to a college course of studies. This program is designed so that a teacher develops a professional growth plan that leads to an independent study unique to the individual teacher.  The CEO program is built around the Kentucky Experienced Teacher Standards and adopted by the Education Professional Standards Board. National Board Certification is a voluntary performance-based assessment through which candidates demonstrate in-depth content knowledge and teaching practices measured against high and rigorous standards. The advanced system of National Board Certification compliments, but does not replace, state licensing. Each state, school district and school decides how best to capitalize on the National Board Certification process.
