KEDC Cuts Ribbon on AI Rolling Lab, Bringing “The Future Is Now” to Kentucky Schools

(Lexington, KY) — The Kentucky Educational Development Corporation (KEDC) hosted a community reception and ribbon cutting to unveil its AI Rolling Lab, a first-of-its-kind mobile learning experience designed to bring artificial intelligence to students and educators across the Commonwealth.

The AI Rolling Lab transforms a modern mobile classroom into an immersive, hands-on AI experience for grades 3–5. Educators and guests at today’s event explored interactive stations featuring an AI-enabled robot, a dynamic “weather globe” demonstrating real-time data and forecasting, creative media tools, and guided activities that show how AI can support problem-solving, career exploration, and digital literacy.

“KEDC’s mission is to be Your Trusted Partner in Education. For the past two years, we’ve envisioned a safe, engaging way to demystify AI for Kentucky classrooms,” said Nancy Hutchinson, KEDC CEO. “Today, that vision comes to life. The AI Rolling Lab meets students where they are—with curiosity, creativity, and a clear focus on preparing them for the future.”

Dr. Carrie Ballinger, Chairwoman of the KEDC Executive Board, added, “This is more than a vehicle; it’s a moving gateway to opportunity. The AI Rolling Lab gives our districts equitable access to cutting-edge tools and learning experiences, no matter their size or zip code.”
