KEDC Flood Drive

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Educational Development Corporation (KEDC), in partnership with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA), will host a Flood Relief Donation Drive on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at KHSAA Headquarters, 2280 Executive Drive, Lexington, KY 40505.

Community members are encouraged to bring donations to the KHSAA headquarters by pulling around the front circular drive, where volunteers will be available throughout the day to accept contributions.

Requested donations include bottled water, non-perishable food, paper products, toiletries, baby supplies, cleaning supplies, trash bags, laundry detergent, pet supplies and gift cards.

“As educators, our mission has always been about serving people,” said Nancy Hutchinson, Chief Executive Officer of KEDC. “When Kentucky communities are hurting, we have a responsibility to come together and help. We are grateful to KHSAA for opening its headquarters so we can provide an easy way for our schools, partners and neighbors to support families as they begin the difficult road to recovery.”

For Jim Caldwell, KEDC’s Public Relations and Marketing Director and former television meteorologist, the event carries special meaning. “I may have stepped away from forecasting the weather every day, but weather is still in my veins,” Caldwell said. “I’ve spent decades watching storms impact Kentucky communities, and I know the stories behind the headlines. While we can’t stop the rain that’s already fallen, we can help the families living through its aftermath. That’s what Kentucky does, we show up for one another when it matters most.”

KEDC and KHSAA invite schools, businesses, organizations and individuals across Central Kentucky to join the effort by donating supplies or simply helping spread the word.
